I stayed one night found it to be a little tired while my room as cleaned the sheets have black marks on the valance, the bed linen was very worn and the pillows were mismatched, stay away from room 75 unless you like to wake up early as the bottle collectors arrive very very early. Food in the candlelit restaurant was ok,! Its a shame because I believe this was once a beautiful hotel.
The staff in the restaurant were very helpful, especially on the 2nd night, when I needed an evening meal after working and they were just about to close. I was also grateful for being able to use the hotel lobby annex, whilst waiting for my ferry (which was a late crossing to England) especailly as the weather was so bad. First class service and good value. Thank you! Jeremy Jacobs
Good position for city / break. Choice of good restaurants close by.
Lots of noise outside our room window. On ground floor.
1 night stay at the Revere. Food at breakfast was particualry good,as was the service. Restaurant and downstairs lobby area was inviting, gave a good impression. Rooms were adequate for this price level - its an old building and some of the decor is a bit tired, the bathroom was clean and recently improved though. Service in general was above average, and staff were cheerful. Overall good.
Carpet in the room was tired and needed replacement.
Good location. Friendly staff.
This was a repeat visit. Last time was fine. We requested same room. It had been allocated to guests who had made their booking after our request We ended up (both of us +70) on the top floor up nearlyt 50 stairs in a room with 4 poster bed that was bang up against a sloping ceiling which made it impossible not to bang your head when getting out on the left side. The mattress was on an incline left to right The bed creaked with every move and turn. The bathroom ceiling could not possibly have conformed to building regulations. Not even 6 ft. The shower hose leaked at the tap end and my husband had to go to another room for his shower. I declined to wander round a hotel in my nightie and just had a wash. Poor.
Tony the barman was ace! Wayne and Matt also stood out as veru friendly. Decor/furnishings were comfortable and quaint looking. The food was very good, but breakfast requires adding blackpudding or haggis to make it excpetional above others in town. Pool area was very nice and enclosed. Will definately return to this hotel
A small pillow menu would be good as there were no feather pillows available on request and I am allergic to foam ones.
Room 46 was located as an annex with no natural daylight, the smoking area for staff was located outside this room and laundry noise along with the back of the kitchen noise, and on our return we had a cockroach running across the floor, we were moved to room 85 the spar bath was broken and dirty the shower had no curtain causing water damage to the door and the sink taps both had faulty tap washers, along with 4 light bulbs being broken.
In a drawer in the room was a plastic bag containing mouldy bread Cleaners do not check thoroughly
A frendly and comfortable hotel.
The bathroom was quite small, I could touch opposite walls at the same time.
Receptionist was very helpful and friendly. Good clean comfortable room.
Left at 7:30am on Saturday morning for flight back to UK. No breakfast available as breakfast did not start until 8am. Maybe an alternative 'to go' option should be made available for those who have paid for bed and breakfast.
Friendly, comfortableand good value.
Could do with greater choice at breakfast as not everyone likes or can eat a fried breakfast.
Nothing.Service at reception appalling.Room smelled of dank musk, had to keep window open all night.Hotel badly needs refurbishing.Bathroom basic at best, shower let water all over the floor as the glass panel too small.Bedside light broken and no smoke detector in room.
The staff were extremely helpful, polite, friendly and funny. The hotel itself is charming although a little dated. The bathrooms are lovely, clean and modern. Great shower. Nice flat screen TV's in the bedroom, but the mattress was unfortunately very incomfortable. Mine was like an upside-down v so I had to position myself carefully as not to roll off the sides. My parents' mattress was rock hard. The breakfast was decent enough, typically buffet style on serving trays. They have 2 restaurants (but I didn't get a chance to go) that are meant to be very good and look lovely.
The mattresses desperately need changing. And maybe modernise the decor a little.
Friendly hotel with character
Hot water coming out of the cold tap Bedside light switch much too far from bed Bedside light too far from bed Bed post blocking view of television from bed
Very polite and helpful staff. Nice room with good storage for clothes, even an iron and ironing board in the wardrobe. Nice bathroom with up-to- date fittings.
